Summary | 0006845: Something is wrong with Anti Armor and Armor | ||||||||
Description | I was playing Antistasi with a group and over the last few days we have found that when AI are controlling vehicles they take much more damage than they should without being killed or even damaged in some cases. The problem is 2 fold, some of the launchers seem to not be producing the proper damage results and on the other side some RHS armored vehicles are taking far too much damage. The best example is the M3 MAAWs and Javelin vs the Tigris and M6 Linebacker. I did testing where I found that when using the RHS HEAT rounds in the m3 MAAWS, I was unable to defeat the Bradley consistently from any direction except oddly enough the rear. When testing the MAAWs with the Tigris it was able to defeat it from all angles except certain its to the rear and front 1/3rd of the side. When testing the Javelin from a variety of ranges and angles, the Javelin was only able to consistently defeat the M6 Bradley Linebacker from the front in Top attack mode, but from any other angle it was totally random. I watched the missile strike in zeus and at all ranges and at all angles it was hitting from above, but was failing to do any damage at all in some cases and minimal damage in others. This goes for the Tigris as well, during testing it was not destroyed in many cases when launching the missile at under 500 yards even though it was still hitting from the top. There was no discernable difference between the flight paths or hit characteristics of the Javelin shots no matter the range or angle, but the results were random. Sometimes the vehicle would be destroyed and other times it would be totally undamaged. When tested with the ACE3 Advanced vehicle damage model, the only difference between them was when it was enabled the vehicles would cook off and catch on fire forcing the crew to dismount, but when going into the damage page in zeus the Vehicles were completely undamaged. This concours with our in game experience where we would need to shoot some vehicles like AAVs, LAVs, Bardleys, and Tigris's with 2-3 Javelin shots or 2-4 MAAWs shots to destroy them. In one case we had to shoot an enemy vehicle with over 100 APDS rounds from the Bradley's cannon to destroy it. The confounding factor is that in many cases when we are driving the same vehicles we are totally destroyed by single shots from light AT weapons like LAWs. This is an extremely frustrating situation because we find ourselves expending an entire squads AT on a single IFV, and then being overwhelmed by a second because we used 5 rockets on the first. This is even more frustrating when you look at historical evidence and data from IRL conflicts that show weapons like Javelin are effective against Main Battle Tanks in single shots, and we are unable to destroy IFVs and APCs in less than 2 shots. | ||||||||

Additional Information | This is an issue with both ACE3 Advanced damage on and off, cookoff forces the crew to dismount but fundamentally the vehicle is still undamaged and the cookoff tanks the servers FPS so its not a viable solution | ||||||||

Ammo compartment on M2/M6 is in lower part (& around) turret ring, so aim here for critical shots. Destroyed engine is already knocked out vehicle |

You missed the major problem, the problem isn't that the M2/M6 can't be killed, its that the Javelin is totally ineffective against it and multiple other IFV class vehicles when it is designed to kill Main Battle Tanks |
