Summary | 0001214: Commander viewport/reticle view in M1A1 has wrong keybind, cannot use GPS
Description | This affect these tanks: US Army M1A1SA USMC M1A1SEP USMC M1A1SEP (0) i opened a ticket because i though the zoom levels in commander view were messed up. http://feedback.rhsmods.org/view.php?id=1195 [^] In fact the ticket has been closed because it is "working as intented", because "The second sight is infact one of the viewports". In Arma, passing from alt view to first person view (which you looking though a slit is), or in any case passing from an ALT view to another alt view is commanded by 0 (NUM),and the keybind to pass from an ALT view to another alt view is commanded by /(NUM): that is why i was confused because the final effect is that pressing + you zoom out, which never happens in Arma. Moreover, if this is a first persona view, you should be able to bring up the vanilla GPS.
Steps To Reproduce | - bring up a M1A1, take a vanilla GPS from a rhsusf equipment crate or add it through init field, and place yourself as commander - press 0 (NUM) or /(NUM) *nothing happens* - press + (NUM) *reticle disappears, go in first person* - press - (NUM) *reticle reappears* - press CTRL + M *nothing happens*
Additional Information | This alt view/first person view with 0 (NUM) works for every other vehicle, expecially in the driver position. Besides, i cant really see the use of a viewport view which has a narrower sight because of the M2 gun getting bigger and eating away a greater portion of the screen even if the FOV is wider, and no reticle for aiming the gun itself. The only use i can find is the possibility of bringing up the GPS thus being able to help the driver navigate (which isnt able to do it himself since he has a fixed alt view) while using the viewport view. This also relates to the ticket is opened about tanks not being able to navigate if driver and/or commander doesnt turn out in order to open their gps: http://feedback.rhsmods.org/view.php?id=1196 [^]

In RHS the NUM+ button is not a ZOOM button but a switch sight branch button. This is how we have designed our system since Arma 2 and will not change it. This is also the only reliable way to switch between different sight reticles. In some vehicles it also switches between NV and TI views of various zooms. The GPS is not openable when looking through sights because it is an engine limitation. Please stop reopening closed tickets. |
