Summary | 0005876: AFRF tank wheels + side skirts allowing munitions to deal damage to internal HitPoints
Description | Originally brought to my attention by <felix the dog#6218> on the Code4Gaming discord server where he showed a Mk19 detonating his T-80UK to which was he was angled 50* to (https://gfycat.com/barrenpassionatekestrel [^]) The wheels and some (haven't tested many) skirts used on many Russian tracked vehicles (T-72, T-80, T-90, BMP-3) allow munitions to deal damage to HitPoints inside of the vehicle even though they never penetrate the vehicle itself. It seems that no RHS weapons below 20mm can deal damage to, if nothing else, the ammunition storages when doing this. Using Dev for Shots diagnostic here, it functions the same in 1.98. Example video: https://youtu.be/RCPPvvg55vA [^] Wheel: Firing 0:03 - 0:24 : Mi-24G, detonates at 0:35 Firing 1:35 - 1:40 | 1:57 - 2:06 : BMP-2D, detonates at 2:06 Skirt: Firing 1:02 - 1:08 : M2A2ODS, detonates at 1:16
Steps To Reproduce | At any angle where the munition can penetrate the wheel or skirt, aim towards hitpoints in the vehicle and damage is dealt, as shown in the example video. hint format["Ammo damage = %1", getAllHitPointsDamage <target>"];
Additional Information | The T-14 seems to be an exception, I'd assume due to different wheels and skirts. Limited testing for RHSUSAF vehicles but the Abrams does not seem to have this issue and for the reason above, I have not tested further on non-AFRF vehicles.

Sorry, I didn't realise there were different project sections to report on. I can re-create it on the AFRF section if needed. |

Are you sure it's not only T80? http://feedback.rhsmods.org/view.php?id=5378 [^] While working on this issue I've already fixed it on T72. From video you posted it seems more that you are hitting side of the tank and most weapon that you have fired, are able to penetrate that part of hull. 3UBR8 is quite weird but I guess its same bug which is mentioned in ticket above - I've already prototyped fixes to that part of Fire Geometry but its still WIP. Mi24G is quite weird but perhaps its using wrong ammo and it might be issue on its own. M1A1 doesn't have such issue because it stores most of its ammo in turret - there is only small hull storage site on right side. On the other hand, most of the AFRF tanks are using autoloaders & their ammo is stored at the bottom of the hull - https://2static1.fjcdn.com/comments/T72+is+a+moving+ammo+storage+ammo+in+_7f0801e4eaf195a08fd298e80b9811a2.jpg [^] |
