Swedish trails never tested the US M1A2 armor. Swedes only estimated protection of the M1A2 with Export Armor Package which is mentioned in Swedish documents (that I have in my archives), and Swedes only tested armor models of their own armor design that they wanted to use in M1A2's if they would purchase license for them and manufacture them. US M1A2 used 2nd generation Heavy Armor Package which was not meant for export for non NATO members, in game we do not have basic M1A2 either, but M1A1SA, M1A1FEP and M1A2SEPv1 and all of them use even newer 3rd generation Heavy Armor Package, and also M1A1HC which uses 2nd generation Heavy Armor Package. So no, we will not change anything, because what you show, is Export Armor Package, which was most likely based on the BRL-2 armor package used in the M1IP and basic M1A1. |

Maybe making good-old "stock" M1A1 or M1A1HA with this leaks will be possible? These elder variants really needed, bcuz there is no tanks in USAF to be equal to AFRF T-80BV and T-72B |

It does not hit me hard or anything. I simply know what I am talking about. In 1990's when Sweden was testing tanks as replacement for their Strv 103 and licensed Centurions, vehicles like M1A2SEPv1, M1A2SEPv2, M1A1SA and M1A1FEP did not existed with their 3rd generation Heavy Armor Package, these vehicles were designed and fielded in the early 2000's. As for M1A2 for Sweden, even Swedish documents say that it was offered by US with Export Armor Package. Important is: "M1A2 hade ett ballistiskt skydd i exportversion.". Besides we have proof that armor on M1's was constantly being upgraded as on various prototypes or pilot vehicles for new series, there are welded weight simulators to simulate increased weight of the new armor, before it's added. As an example. http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/24/1434139645-m1e1-hull-front-plate.png [^] Here is M1E1 and we can see besides turret front, also hull front was reinforced. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gi3YEoI-HDg/WdtJcPIMfjI/AAAAAAAANJM/GR7-I_eXfQchXjZllq9jwRWRxFV3efjDwCLcBGAs/s1600/DI-lbSTXYAAnkrp-2-840x557.jpg [^] And here is example of M1A2SEPv3 Pilot Vehicle 4 that have substantial increase in armor mass as we can see massive weight simulators on turret and hull front. And here are M1 series armor generations: Generation 1 - M1 1980 (BRL-1) Generation 1.5 - M1IP 1984 (Interim) Generation 2 - M1A1 1985 (BRL-2) Generation 3 - M1A1HA 1988 (1st Generation Heavy Armor Package) Generation 4 - M1A1HA, M1A1HC, M1A2 1990-1993 (2nd Generation Heavy Armor Package) Generation 5 - M1A1SA, M1A1FEP, M1A2SEPv1/v2 2000-2017 (3rd Generation Heavy Armor Package) Generation 6 - M1A2SEPv3/v4 2017-20xx. (New Next Generation Armor Package) What we currently have in game are vehicles with Generation 5 armor, what Swedes were offered in 1990's was Export Armor Package based on Generation 2 armor. Is this clear? |
