Summary | 0000832: Can't guide Apache Hellfires using laser |
Description | I am unable to guide/steer the Apache Hellfire using the laser.
Only able to test with an AI pilot. |
Steps To Reproduce | From the Gunner's cockpit:
I cycle to the the laser and turn it on by left clicking, I then see the laser symbology.
Next I cycle the weapons to the Hellfire, when I fire the Hellfire it just goes straight ahead and never follows the laser. |
Additional Information | I've tried running just the RHS mods and also tried running it in conjunction with ACE3 |

That is corect. AH-64 uses AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire and it is a Fire and forget missile
|
|
|
|
Dont you need to lock on to the laser first? |
|
|
|
I thought that by having the laser as a gunner weapon, the Hellfire would be a K variant. Otherwise, what's the point of the laser? |

Because every AH-64D have a laser cause it can use both radar and laser guided Hellfire's, we just have right now radar guided ones. |

ok this will need a longer article from my side in order to explain it all but first I'll need to fix my PC. I should be done with it by tomorrow. BTW I have found a small mistake on the RHS AH-64D wiki it is said there that it uses AGM-111 Hellfire though it should be AGM-114 Hellfire.

The AH-64D uses mainly the up to date armament. The D Variant was especially developed to use the AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missile, (for guidance it uses the millimeter-wave radar seeker so there is no need for a laser lock on) by adding advanced sensors such as the AN/APG-78 Longbow millimeter-wave fire-control radar thanks to that u can detect targets with the helicopter behind obstacles (e.g. terrain, trees or buildings). The Target Sight System (TSS) has been left so that u can use laser guided ordnance (other Hellfires, artillery laser guided etc.) and it's optics. It can also guide weapons from other stations (it will be improved in AH-64E with the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System). |

The typo in the RHS-wiki (111 -> 114) entry is now corrected. |

In Iraq the AH64D were intensively using laser guided Hellfire. (AGM-114K)
Having ingame a AH64D with a mixture of Longbow (agm-114L) and laser guided (agm-114K) hellfire II (8/8) would add versatility for target engagement.
Currently the only way to use missile is to have a solid-lock-on. with the laser guided version you can hit whatever you want. aim and shot.

Air weapons will be completely reconsidered soon. |
