Summary | 0002935: 5N7 ammo likely doesn't exist
Description | 5N7 ammunition in AK-74/RPK-74 mags is still in game after the addition of 7N6. Either 5N7 doesn't exist or it is another name for 7N6. See Additional Info for explanation.
Steps To Reproduce | |||||
Additional Information | I'm led to believe that the "5N7" cartridge doesn't actually exist. It could either be a mis-translation of 7N6 or a designation given to it by NATO/Western sources in the 1980s (similar to calling the AKMS "AKSD" or the AKS-74U "AKR"). Sources on this: https://forum.cartridgecollectors.org/t/5-45x39-m74-questions-5n7-vs-7n6-vs-7n6m/11310 [^] http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91102 [^] I know the team has a lot of Russian developers, however, so I could be totally wrong about all this. Even still, I'm nearly positive that 7N6 was adopted and widespread by 1976, so why would 5N7 still be around?
