Summary | 0002265: Any shell round hit to the enemy armored vehicle with any RHS AFRF's tank will crash the game |
Description | As title says, as any russian tanks gunner, hitting enemy tanks or APCs or Whatever armored targets will make the game crash to the desktop with " 0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION" error message.
I tested with vanilla + RHS AFRF only.
Arma 3 version is 1.60, but also occurred on 1.58
Is there any way to avoid the issue while I'm using the RHS AFRF tank?
If none, please consider fixing this problem.
Thanks. |
Steps To Reproduce | 1.Open up editor and select any map.
2.Put T-80 from Russian TV force, and set "player as gunner".
3.Put NATO M2A1 slammer with no ammo.
4.Hit preview and shoot the enemy tank with APFSDS round. You should get a crash.

do you get crash if fire from Slammer? I'm afraid it's arma bug that appears on certain computers only. try fiddling with audio settings |
|
|
|
No, it doesn't crash when T-72 got shot from slammer or any other armored vehicles. Also I tested AI vs AI battle with RHS tanks vs vanilla tanks and it works fine. and a Playing as a gunner of slammer vs T-100 also played without any glitch. So, it seems like there's something wrong in the RHS....
Thanks for your advise reyhard, I'll try playing around with audio settings. |
|
|
|
one more thing - do you have ctd if you fire from t72/t80 in the air? |

I tested and No CTD occurred when I shot in the 3rd person view.
I kept tuning audio settings to no luck so far.
Could you tell me little bit more specific how I should adjust the audio settings?

Finally, It just improved the situation, thank you!
I can engage enemy tanks at medium range(around 800m) or further with no problem when I dropped the sound source to 16.
However, still getting CTD at close range engagement(around 200m or closer)... |
|
|
|
Does it happen if AI is firing T72 too? Or only if you are in 1st person view? |

reyhard, it doesn't at all. It only happens when I play in the 1st person mode.
It must be something to do with sound device compatibility.
My PC got a "Realtek high definition audio" driver.

|
did you tried to change audio sampling in windows settings? |
|
|
|
yep. Changed from 24bit 192000Hz to 16bit 44100Hz. |

Reproduced on my system. Changing audio settings didn't help, however I figured out that if I load the editor and destroy an Abrams with the vanilla T-100 the game will not crash until I exit and re-launch (even upon loading a different mission). |

No crashing so far! Thanks for the fix, extremely appreciated! |

No crashing or freezing from what limited testing I did do. Sweet, nice job. I wonder what the culprit was.
Although now I remembered an old bug I found, with the T-72 FCS script:

Change zeroing manually, this happens. Does not appear to have any actual effect on gameplay seeing as it's just reporting a missing variable and the reporting is probably turned off by default. You probably already know about this so I'm not making a separate ticket, of course, unless you want me to.

You are not alone, my friend, I also have this problem. |
|
|
|
@Archosaurus
I guess bug was caused by some users audio drivers - changing encoding from .ogg to .wss seems to fixed issue for those few who had it.
thank statman for reports since it hinted me it is audio related thing ;)
as for that zeroing bug - I will look into it later.
waiting for some reports and then I guess it might be closed |

Hello.
I also have Realtek HD audio drivers and I was experiencing the same crashes.
But the .pbo you've posted has fixed the problem, I can't reproduce it again. |

Well, my issue was threated as duplicate of this issue.
I dont have CTD, but sound is cutting off in the middle of sample. After few shoots sounds of autoloader stop playing at all. Issue is in file format i think. I already tried changing audio sample quality in system, number of audio sources in arma, reinstalling the audio drivers, installing USB audio card, nothing seems to work. |

I propably found an issue from my end.
It was AMD High Definition Audio device installed from Windows Update (auto-updates), there was no information about this, and i just found it in device manager. There is no way to uninstall it, and the only way is disabling that device. I also updated audio driver from device manager (manually) and problem is gone, only problem about autoloader is, its very quiet now. |

Thanks for reporting back. |
