0002008: RHS Lite
RHS is currently pretty massive in both file size and content. My community currently uses RHS, but is finding the amount of certain assets simply too redundant (e.g. Russian helmets). What we'd really love to see is a more compact version of RHS - only two models of AK/AR15, two or three different uniforms, only one or two variants of each helmet, etc. This would make the use of the Arsenal easier and cut down the download times for the users with slower connections.
1) Be RHS team.
2) Slice off all the extra fat from RHS.
3) Have a less bloated version of the pack. :)

1. i am
2. we are sorry you see it as fat. we don't
3. it is ignorant and disrespectful towards us to call a lot of work we do bloated...

how about:
1. you get bigger HDDs
2. better ISP connection

To clarify a bit on my friend above:

The mods take up about 40 manhours a day to maintain (10 people doing something for 4 hours a day, roughly) at its current state. That's about 280 hours a week and 2800 (!!!) hours per release cycle (about 2.5 months right now on average). If we would have to also maintain everyone's vision of what the ultimate mod pack should be the amount of work would be uncountable. We simply cannot afford to take time to do things like this at this time. Especially when we do not believe that we go overboard or anything on the mod sizes with it being 16 years into the 21st century and all.

2,3 GB is Much for You? Man, no offence, but you dont know what you are talking about. Lot of terrains on armahollic have this weight for SINGLE MAP! Now open pack from RHS - you got vehicles, weapons, uniforms, all gear, sounds, Russian voice acting (around 250mb)- its all divided into animations, textures, configs, models... and you say that 2,3 GB is too much.

I was mostly referring to the amount of "different" objects there are present rather than the file size. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing that there's a bunch of different vehicles and equipment to choose from... It's just that I don't see 60 iterations of a helmet in any way necessary.

Telling people to get better ISP connections is just ignorant (and I admit that my 3-step thing is more than a bit offensive, and do apologize). We have people from countries where 200kB/s is the best you're going to get - and for them, downloading that extra 2,3GB is a rather large commitment. I did not know how much time you guys are spending on RHS prior now, and I can agree that trying to cater to everyone is not viable.

Would it not be possible to split the pbo's into multiple smaller pbo's by branches, for example? (VDV, USMC, etc.) This would allow each community to choose what they really need, and might make work easier for you guys as things would be more organized(?).

seems this doesn't seem to get through to you...
1. you can choose how many of these helmets shows up in your missions, or even virtual arsenal. That's why it is called mission DESIGN.

2. no, telling the same people that need to download the game off steam in the first place, and each game update and patch is worth similar size, is not ignorant, is the reality of 2016. @200KBs it takes 1.5h, ONCE. Then one can use our delta patching updaters, which would download only the files you need.

3. If downloading 2.3GB is such a large commitment for you or anyone else, then imagine the size of the commitment for us to CREATE that 2.3GB worth of content.

4. We are not gonna split the mod into parts or smaller pbos. There is a reason why the setup is the way it is, even if for you as a user it might not make sense. The pbo setup is perfectly organized for our development purposes.

conclusion: there are no plans to strip the mod into parts.

PS: being rude is never gonna get you far.
