|Description||Eagle Industries Plate Carrier (MBAV) based off incorrect model of plate carrier|
The MBAV featured in the USAF mod for the SOCOM units is evidently based on the Eagle Plate Carrier With Cummerbund for Law Enforcement, however, the plate carrier adopted by SOCOM for the MBAV program was in fact the Eagle Plate Carrier With Cummerbund. They are essentially the same vest aside from one key difference. On the LE mode there is a distinct presence of velcro loop sections on the front and rear faces of the plate carrier, whereas the military model lacks such velcro loop sections. If the team seeks to portray American special operations forces to the highest degree of authenticity possible, correcting this discrepancy may be of concern. Amending this issue would entail nothing more than texture edits, replacing the velcro material with the appropriate material. Below is a link to an album of images, the first plate carrier pictured is the LE model, the second is the military model, and the last handful of images show various US special operations forces members in MBAV plate carriers, to back up my claims and provide reference. Notice the absence of velcro loop on the pictured plate carriers. Further below is a google drive folder containing a very crude attempt at amending this issue that I worked out, it includes a Normal map and Diffuse maps in Khaki color and Ranger Green color, along with matching Diffuse maps for the pouches. I fully authorize the RHS team to utilize these maps for the RHS USAF addon if they desire, otherwise they may function as a reference.
I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that the MBAV as it appears in RHS USAF is in a Coyote color, however, the Eagle Plate Carrier with Cummerbund is not offered by Eagle Industries in Coyote color. The MBAV has only ever purchased by SOCOM in Khaki color and Ranger Green color. In many cases Coyote and Khaki may seem to be the same exact color, but generally speaking, Khaki is more yellow-oriented, while coyote is more orange-oriented. At least, for Eagle Industries products, that is. Other manufacturers vary.
